| Saturday 10th January 2026 another snow update | 2026-01-10 11:26:16 AM |
Just a quick update on today’s deliveries, today we received our supplies from WHSmith this morning at 0430, this was 30 mins later that normal but due to the weather conditions, we fully respect this as many of the Newspapers are printed in London, and travel by road. WHS always do there best without wasting a minute to get to us. we were at the collection point at 0345, waiting in -2 conditions, not to mention when we get them we have to insert all supplements into the newspapers. Having spoken to many customers on Friday some saying the roads are clear, today we have found that some people do not understand how the Newspapers are actually delivered to your door. The only roads that were clear this morning were A roads and yet again no gritting from Walsall council as of 930 we only delivered to around 90 customers thus taking 5 hours, we have 300 customers which are 77 miles from end to end to deliver to, it was an impossible task, we had to actually dig the car out a 6 houses, not to mention the sheer height of the ruts in the middle of the road. The floor of our car was continuously scraped by solid ice not snow. If you look any Facebook accounts regarding the roads you will see that our comments about the roads are made from actual experience not just typing what people think. Some key points on today. The Roads were dangerously icy We tried our very best and are sincerely sorry we couldn’t meet everyone’s expectations but there is a realistic limit on what can or cannot be done. Many almost 99.9% of roads and footpaths not even touched and these were all solid ice. Our job is tough going even on a dry warm night. We expected the snow to have melted more on Friday but this didn’t happen. We will try our very best on Sunday let’s hope it’s better. Kind Regards Neil & Tracy
